Last week was a fun week sharing ways we used technology to help with learning and growth at home.  We also asked for Parent/Family Perspectives of what they wished for or what would be helpful.

@juliepile – It needs to be SIMPLY, not only in the platform, but in keeping number of platforms that Ps have to access to a minimum.  As a P, I love it when I can “be” in the classroom.  Give me Flip classrooms, record lessons and post for me to watch.  I want to know how to teach my child too so that we are teaching in the same way.
@FlowersClass1st – I have shared FlipGrid responses with parents, and they have loved that we are using technology in a new, exciting way.
@LaneWalker2 – Some of my Ps sign up for the same class on Kahn Academy & I click their name when I click the Ss name so they know what session I sent to fill in a gap I see.
@LauraGilchrist4 – In our SmorePages team daily note, I would copy/past information from my team teachers into the Smore.  I added photos/videos most days which help parents be the “fly on the wall”.  Parents loved the seciont:  “Questions to ask the kids tonight!” with context.
@JeremyDBond – Funny that I’ve heard of flipped classrooms so much in the context of how they benefit students (they do!) and a lot less on their double-role of engaging parents.
@joeymh43 – If colleges utilize online platforms for adult learning then schools should be able to utilize online platforms to educated parents who need a diploma! What better way to set the example of valuing education?!
@zjvv77 – As a parent, I often feel that my calibration for what is “normal” is way off – and I’m an educator!  Increase transparency! Good #edtech lets parents know what’s going on! (Conversely, bad tech confuses them).
